Summer 2013!

We’ll be back in action for just a couple months this summer, from late June to early August.  Hopefully we can play as much as possible in that short time.  Let us know if you have any dates in that period you would be interested in booking us.  We’re really excited to play together for you this summer so let’s make the most of it and kick this snowy spring in the ass!

Tour =(

Hey folks, we are bummed to say that we have to cancel our East Coast tour to take care of some stuff at home. We will miss y’all and thanks to everyone who helped us out! See you next time and keep your eyes peeled for us around MN and the midwest in the next couple weeks!  We’re playing Iowa City at The Mill on  Wednesday, August 22nd, and a couple other shows in MN.

Playing in Two Harbors, MN - Friday, August 3rd

This Friday, August 3rd, we will be playing in Two Harbors, MN as part of the Fridays in the Park summer music series, presented by Arts on Superior.  We’ll start playing at 7pm at the Thomas Owens Park Bandshell (Yes, that’s outside, and it’s free!).  I hear brats and burgers from the grill will be available for purchase too.  The show will be moved to an indoor site nearby in case of inclement weather, which we’ll try to quickly get posted on here or our facebook page if need be.

THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO DONATED TO OUR KICKSTARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As our bandmates slowly trickle into Minneapolis over the next month, things are starting to happen.  We have so much work to do still and so little time, but we’re going to make it happen.  We put some new songs up online from the album for you to take a peek at too.  I gotta go, but let’s talk again soon, OK?

Help us fund our DEBUT ALBUM via Kickstarter!

ATTN: EVERYONE READING THIS

We just launched our KICKSTARTER campaign, which means you can help fund our first full-length album, which will be released in June!  The way it works is folks who want to help donate to reach our goal get certain rewards based upon how much they donate.  We have until May 5th to make $1,500 (or more!), but if we don’t reach our goal we don’t get to keep any of it!  So please help us out!  Share with friends or family you think might be interested.  Check out the awesome promo video Mike Forstein made us for it!

Alas, Alas Kickstarter

You can also help by “Liking” us on Facebook (if you actually do like us!) so more people can get exposed to seeing what we’re about!

Decemburr was kewl. And then the future.

Oh geesh.  That yarn store show was bonkers.  Thanks to everyone who came out to both of our shows while we were back in town, and to all the bands that played withs us: Painted Saints, The Cousins, Growth Spert, Brass Messengers, and inBOIL.  We should have some video footage and pictures up from both shows if we can find some good stuff!  We’re all sold out of Dirty Water EPs (forever?).  We started recording our first full length album and have bucket-loads of work to do!  We’re going to try and keep things updated on here as they slowly trickle in, but expect a quiet lull from us this winter!  I can’t think of anything else to say right now.

Hey dude, here’s a video of Katie and Drew playing at the Book House in Minneapolis back in January.  The whole band will be back to play a couple shows in town at the end of December, but we’ll holler at you later about that.

Last Show Until Winter =(

That’s right friends.  We will be playing one more show on August 9th, which will be our last until we can wrangle ourselves back together come colder months.  Think December.  We’ll be playing with Brooks Strause and the Gory Details on tour from Iowa City.  Brooks has been doing his thing for a while now and is a real treat to have playing with us!  There’s also going to be a couple folks giving a presentation on their canoe trip of the ENTIRE Mississsippi River!  And opening the show will be DeL CaBo, Caleb from Bouncer Fighter’s acoustic band doing some super cool stuff that makes you feel weird in a good way.

Bring food to grill at 5pm!

At the Kronstadt (email us for the address).

Tour is over, Summer is FINALLY beginning!

First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who supported us on our West Coast tour this past May!  Everyone who opened their homes to us, let us crash on their couches and floors, fed us, showed us around town, helped us book shows, hopped in the van with us for just a few blocks or hundreds of miles, gave us directions, all the other bands and groups and performers who played shows with us, and probably most importantly, to all the folks who came out to our shows and listened to us play!!!  It was soooooo much fun being able to travel the country sharing our music with folks, and meeting amazing people of all sorts!  We need to spruce up our website and hopefully we will have photos up from tour soon(although the drugstore may have ruined a lot of our photos.  email us if you have any photos from the tour we can use at AlasAlasABand@gmail.com).  We will definitely be back west again, but most likely not for quite a while, so thanks for giving us plenty of memories to think about until then!

So “Spring” or i guess “Summer” in Minneapolis has been a crapshoot.  In just the past few days the rain has finally stopped, and we have been given the gift of the almighty sunshine.  A good month or two late.  We’ve played a couple shows since we’ve been back in town, but Elori will be leaving us soon for the summer, so you might not see too many shows from us without our beloved fiddler.  Maybe some spur of the moment stuff and a couple bigger shows here and there around the good ol’ Twin Cities.  EXCEPT:  The other 4 of us are planning a short Midwest jaunt to wrap up the summer in early/mid August.  We’ll be posting details about that soon!

(Also keep your ears peeled and you may here some of us busking at Farmer’s Markets and outdoor events throughout the cities this summer.)

Well we have been a band for about one year now, and everything is going quite swimmingly fucking awesome!  It’s great we’ve been able to do so much as a band even with a bunch of us in school out of state for 9 months out of the year!  Thanks everyone who’s been along for the ride.  We’ve been working on some new material and would like to release a full length album some day, but with so much time apart from one another, it will be a long long time until we are able to do so.  But I think we may have some smaller things up our sleeves until then.  So here’s to another year, filled with more adventures, friends both new and old, and DOPE ASS MUSIC.

We Love You.
